Your Gift Poem by Marilyn Jean

Your Gift

What could it be?
"Happiness" would be fine
But will you
Open my letter
Chocolates are out
Cakes too boring
Paintings no more
Work of love ongoing
What my gift?
Yours was so nice
Strange though
That you took it back
I did not dare ask
What about an invitation
Under my tree in the spring
Or a hug for Xmas
Or both?
Nice and sweet
Then I paint your bridge
