Your Second Leave-Taking: Lines Written After Basho 私の心の中のその捨てられた場所

I thought that we had done—that poem—
but "Oh, no"... the thought occurred to me
this morning, dogged me, trailed me ...

The first time, I was sad, but prepared as you
had told me.But your second leave-taking
caught me unawares; you never mentioned it

kept it a secret, so how was I to know?
Yes, how?Spirit, speak, give quarter—

I look for you now among these poems
that blow and scatter like dry leaves
in the deserted spaces of my heart 心
