Your Wound Poem by Ndina Kamaro Muofhe

Your Wound

Through the fingers of my heart, you slipped
I fought so hard to keep you inside
Even when you've long left
For, to miss you, heals my cheated emotions

But somehow,
You managed to escape from memory's cage
You must have done something really bad
Because, I do not let go off easily
Even if it's my heart in pieces

Here, I am, left in the air
You were the wind beneath my wings
Gravity is now calling down my thrill
And, all my joy it killed
Yes, I cried and it felt so good
But now, it saddens me when I don't miss you
You must have done something really bad
For, I don't let go off that easy

A beautiful shadow you were
You once colored coats of my joy
I had a home in your presence
I bought all plights you sold to me
Even when you were absent to honor them,
It felt good because it was you
You, who my heart exalted

Scars on my feelings,
Like footprints in sand, they are gone
Normally, I would've been down now
And it would feel so good to miss you
Now, it's blank in the memoir
You must have done something really bad
For, you are missing in the memories

Yet, your wound never heals
