Yours, Daffodil Poem by Kemberly Semana Penton

Yours, Daffodil

I can feel the cold breeze of the wind
See the swaying trees and the chirping bird,
The sun starts to mount up, and yes, it's a day
But still to make you love me, I can't find a way.

It's morning now, my dear, you see?
I make myself stunning and lovely,
For you I will do everything I know
Just take a glance and you'll see me through.

I am disappointed when you walked by
Can't see your sunny smile, it's just a sigh,
Will you please look at me at once?
Seize it for it will be our chance.

I can sense the cold breeze of the wind
See the elusive moon, the day is about to end,
The little stars start to embellish the sky
O Lord, please don't let me die.

It's evening once again, my dear, you see?
From heaps of burden at work you are free,
I don't own a heart, but to you I fall
Alas! You stare; I can feel your soul.

‘Tis what they say being loved back?
If you only know I'm still in shock,
I can't peter out your smile in my head
Are you thinking of me too as you lay on bed?

Good morning, sunshine! I long to see you.
You put on the smile; look I'm wearing it too,
Step by step you're getting closer
To my direction I start to wonder.

You utter the words I dream to heed
"You're the fairest of them all', you whispered.
I start to breathe a short prayer
Saying Lord, is it the answer?

You fall on your knees and pick me up
Carry me near your heart; I hope this won't stop
Then we crossed the street, hand in hand
Like royal couples we look grand.

Knock, knock, and knock! The door unlocks.
Out a pretty woman with lovely locks,
You offer me as a gift to her; you think it's cool?
I thought you loved me; O, I was a fool.
