you've found yours
and that's so great,
the beacon of the way
held tightly to your chest
as the waves of The Almighty
come crashing down on everything,
i've found many things once close
that i now see only in a motion-blur
too close to the sun,
i feel the heat like air on my skin
and i'm hard pressed to fight my way home,
from this hell that i'm in
You've lived a colorful life
full of people and feelings,
places and memories
And while you always work your way out
of any situation that drains you,
i'm sitting in my solitude
expunged from the world with haste,
the plague among young minds
and the past to the aged,
i feel left out of the loop
when i see it speeding by
And i clutch to my tiny black book
containing one name, two places, a memory and
my soul
held tightly in the form of faded lines
below even farther faded words.
