You know I already have a husband -
You still gave me a pair
Of bright pearls; I appreciate your sentiments.
On my red silk vest, the pearls I wear.

My house was built adjacent to the Royal Garden;
My spouse is an Imperial Guard
At the Ming Guang Palace with a halberd.
I know your intentions are pure as the Moon and Sun,
Still, My Love and I had vowed to live as One.

Your pearls bright I am now returning
With two rows of tears falling,
I regret we'd ne'er met
Before I wed.
