Ranjith Wijekoon Poems

When I came to
the end of the world
my mind was ready
to let go of
...

Some people come to this world
for a purpose,
to accomplish a task,
and when its done
...

Two chili plants
With identical origins
They are of the same kind
...

I have given up
everything I held dear
but it was not
renunciation
...

Dreams and memories
collected and bundled together
lie under and around headstones that stand
to scar the earth at random intervals.
...

It is said that
the angel of death
likes to embrace
lives full of youth
...

It is time again
to come to see you

Every year I bring my self
...

Come, be with me
Don’t say a word

Just be in front of me
...

Your cooking is great
I told you once
you offered to teach me
because you love me
...

I couldn’t take your hand
we couldn’t make family
we couldn’t even say
we love each other but
...

Eyes that keep
waiting the day
can only weep
in sleepless cold night
...

I am a traveler
traveling alone
itinerary is not mine
planning is not mine
...

Evening sky
full of stars,
clouds, blue SPACE
space, of course
...

Life swings
Following the
Incessant movement
Of the mind,
...

In the Green pastures that run
Over mountain tops
Along valleys and plains
Adorning the earth
...

Just got intoxicated
Looking into your eyes
I am not a drunkard
...

To bring a soothing breeze
From nowhere to
Make my heart smile
...

When the cold of night
intensifies the melancholic desolation
time walks very slowly,
pinfully slowly
...

Certificates,
Diplomas,
Credentials
and
...

Carrying the cross
To the top of Calvary
Was a humiliation enough
To compensate for
...

Beginning And End

When I came to
the end of the world
my mind was ready
to let go of
everything
without a thought.
Suddenly I felt
like opening my
tightly closed eyes.
When I did
I saw a beginning,
beginning of another
world
another universe.
