Scarlett Charlotte Poems

I've been taught and doused from birth
That when we die, back to the earth,
Our bodies go, our spirits soar.
And in Heaven dwell for ever more
...

I lay staring at the sky engaging with fantastic shapes,
Dragons, monsters, children crawl across surreal 'scapes.
It's peaceful here; I've peace at last,
I think I'll lie amongst the grass
...

In the homes of happy valley, somewhere ‘neath the vast blue tent,
Live the half-digested people; the code of conduct and the government.

Always smiling, shining, glossy; No one cares to see the chains
...

Hastily clad and quite quickly forgotten
These words are the soul of which I've begotten
I see now the faux pas of my world's existence
And the meaningless chime of that word 'Resistance'.
...

In the darkness, all serene
I came across a moonlit scene
I came across a campfire dream
...

Puppet, master, hook and line
Attached at the feet, attached by the mind.
For some cruel being
Large
...

My addiction, loathsome craving
Plagues my heart with wanton yearning
My addiction, lonesome, frozen
Is the need to keep on learning
...

Silence is like golden apples
Sliding in the ear it crackles
Like a broken spirit
...

High you hence the moments gone
Another moment slipped
Passé days they fade away
Cross sullen memory tripped
...

Your mind is fed by crazes sweet,
Thoughts and love and what you eat
You have a mind but I have two
So am I not one up on you?
...

I’ve got your music in my ears
It swells and churns like moving water
But nothing worse than inevitable,
Air, filling my aorta.
...

Only when the stain of the dust that I crave for
Had fully deprived my dried lips of the ardour
I sought for the water, I writhed and laid down for,
And reflected but plenty, I descried my shape.
...

A compulsive habit- is to - breathe,
When firmly suited with this air
A drug of waning opulence
Administered with a doctor's care.
...

A thousand faces I did spy
Peering at me from the sky
Faces from all age and race
Voice and colour, time and place.
...

The People's Republic is only a lie
Always another will have the advance
No one is equal, no matter the stories,
We have all tasted sweet dominance.
...

A figure standing, lonely, waiting,
As the drum beats, harsh and grating,
War drums of a heartless nation
Dragged through sky to wracked starvation,
...

A pale light, like some tomorrow, not defined or whole
Twitched between my waking eyelids, an itch, for day is cold.
I'd many leagues besmirched that night, and yet my feet were clean,
My mind was fresh, not choked with living, I'd forgotten who I'd been.
...

So tell me how you view the world, away from light and day
Do your ardent imaginings tempt you far astray?
See my world, the battlefield, a field of black and red,
With my family in brazen arms and my foes amongst the dead.

Existence

I've been taught and doused from birth
That when we die, back to the earth,
Our bodies go, our spirits soar.
And in Heaven dwell for ever more

Around me others all agreed,
And so did I, I had no need,
Why, questions build a restless mind
Which alienates the normal kind.

I once observed the world around me
As means to ends, although, confound me
That this one life led to another
And paradise I'd soon discover

But soon enough, all though evaded,
The questions came and soon invaded
My brittle head, so fraught with defect
Corroding my purpose, my god so perfect.

Tell me of my god and 'Maker'
Is he the one divine creator?
Of questioning I can't be shriven
From what fear was he first deriven?

I'd ask the question and all they'd tell me.
Would do nothing to dispel me
'We're on earth for reproduction'
Yet still our offspring reek destruction.

And see how far I'd dare to question,
I'd never conceived the one suggestion,
That tore me open, ripped me whole
Do I even have a soul?

As I lay choked in all my musings,
Although abstract and more confusing.
I missed the world that changed around me
And fear and worry quickly drowned me

When I now wake in my life's night,
With all my fellows sleeping tight
I see this life and all I've missed,
When all I want is too exist.
