Old age
Has its long lonely empty idle meaningless days
It has days
Of waiting for and wondering about something to do
...

Forget the End
Live in the Middle-
Go on as long as possible
In the middle
...

Instead of being the most difficult
The poem in old age
Becomes easiest to write
Becomes really
...

When we pray
Singing with others
We find in ourselves
A strength of belief
...

Anyone who writes a poem
Is a poet
Anyone who tries to write a poem
Is a poet
...

Only the earth is made for us
And for how long?
Out there in the far away
So much is dark and indifferent
...

I don't know why
But in my old age
A feeling of joy
Lingers about me
...
