Animals crowding shelters
Discarded, mistreated, jilted…bereft
Craving for attention, devotion
Nay for food they long

When the day sucks
And you're not making big bucks
And you really could use some luck
And..perhaps a tummy tuck

The ability to dream
The strength to rebel
The power of saying no
And not let anyone lead you astray

Day One

Alarm rings. Wake up. Brush teeth. No toothpaste. Breath stinks. Get dressed. Run down. Open fridge. No milk. Open cabinet. No cereal. Blood boils. Water boils. Make tea. No sugar. No milk. Time check. Too late. Find shoes. Socks torn. Both legs. Wear shoes. Lock door. Run out. Missed bus. Get cab. Traffic jam. Forgot wallet. Goodbye watch. Blood boils. Hello work. Reached late. Boss fuming. Missed deadline. Coffee sucked. Late lunch. To cafe. Cute guy. And girlfriend. Blood boils. Work late. Head pounding. Go home. Termite attack. Wood gone. Blood boils. Don’t care. Sleep away.

The puppetmaster tired over his creation
His hands daubed crimson
Letting no trials wane his endeavor
Not the fiery temper of the Seville-toned sun

If it is success you want, Perspire
For glory attained without much fight
Is a glory attained in vain, without valor

Sharm Siva Biography

28 year old who loves to indulge in a good poem or two. My faves include Maya Angelou and Pablo Neruda. I used Roald Dahl during my Choral Speaking days in school. Kipling's IF is a poem which probably makes most sense to me :) Enjoy my pennings!)

Dare We Dream

Animals crowding shelters
Discarded, mistreated, jilted…bereft
Craving for attention, devotion
Nay for food they long
Nay for aegis they seek
Just a loving heart to blanket their lonesome souls
Not to die beneath the prick of a needle

Tiddlers, young ‘uns
Stricken with impoverished fortune
Masking their fears with esurient eyes
Shielding their emptiness with loud cries
Shattering the void of the cold still night

Dare we dream
Of a better ending
For those who cannot speak for themselves
For those whose eyes scream out for help
For those who are, like us
Creatures of God

Dare we dream
Of a finer fate
For those whose destinies are uncertain
For the famished, the tainted, the lost
The innocent

Dare we dream
Of a life
Where sorrows
Where pain
Where worries and disdain
Disappear

Dare we dream
Of a tomorrow?
