Vattakkatt Premchand Poems

Leaning on that graffiti riddled brick wall, she sat
Holding a cardboard with crudely written few words
I am a human; Are you?
Falling raindrops, smudged the edges
...

Eastern horizon blushed, crimson red
At the first glimpseof her celestial king.
Bright shining stars, lowered their gaze
Making way for his ceremonial March

Trophy Hunter

I hear your cry; blood curdling cry,
Piercing my ears, in a thousand decibel

Birthday Wishes to my Mummy

Happy Birthday to you, dear mummy.
You just feel,
...

I will be your prop,
If your foot steps ever falter.
I will shine like a million fireflies,
If ever you, wander in the dark
...

Brush off those cobwebs of sadness,
Display thousand rainbows of happiness.
Wipe off your haunting black memories,
Fill your heart with colourful memories.
...

Mother's love
Purer than pure is your mother's love, unconditional and unlimited
As fresh as a sunny spring morning and as lovely as a thousand rainbows
It is vast as all oceans put together and as luminous as a winter full moon

Hope

Hope is the ray of sunshine,
peeping through,

The shroud has no pockets, it's true indeed,
So why do we obsess over our wallet's need?
The dying man's wise words, they echo loud,
Reminding us of what truly makes us proud.

Humanity

Leaning on that graffiti riddled brick wall, she sat
Holding a cardboard with crudely written few words
I am a human; Are you?
Falling raindrops, smudged the edges
Making those letters, like crawling black spiders
Freezing cold wind blazed through her old rags
Biting her bones with its icy sharp fangs
Matted dirty hair locks, partly covering her sunken cheeks
Danced in the wind, like serpents on Medusa's crown
Her lusterless, hungry eyes searched for a gentle gaze
Pleading for their mercy for a copper or two.
Walking along, through that crowded foot path,
Many people of all colour, in their glamorous clothes
Quickly they walked with a determined stern face
As if, they are chasing own shadows, in competition
I see no faces turned towards that frail human
As if they left their humanity, securely locked it away
Humanity we hear; humanity we preach
Humanity we buy and humanity we sell
But showing humanity is never our turn.
