How many ways can I say I'm done?
How can you just go through your day,
Ignoring every need, every single one
and not hearing what I say?
...
The tears I didn't cry
Didn't faze you at all.
Nothing I did for you
Was ever enough.
...
The ship that held me captive
I finally set it ablaze.
My Father sought me out.
It was me he wanted to save.
...
We say words like
'Love hurt me'
We use excuses, like
'I'm scared of love'
...
I have been isolated.
I have been demolished
By simple words said,
Supervised, accounting for each call.
...
Love is an action
A relationship is work.
You make it look and feel easy,
In spite of our past hurt.

I am 49 years old. I was born to a military family with 3 younger siblings. In my life I always felt they had been favored more than me. My jealousy of my sister ran deep for many years. I have since healed that and become closer to her. My two brothers are doing well in their own rights. I have two lovely children who are my entire world right now. I have had 2 long term relationships that both ended. The first was much older than me and used my youth to do the manual labor on 'our' property that he later took my name off of. I left after he refused to come off the road to try to get married. My second was with my children's father. A true narcissist in every way. I am still recovering from this with God and the help of some very good friends that have been my rocks in this rough water. My poetry is a landscape of my life right now. I have yet to post anything from my past. Some are dark, sad and some are light and full of hope. I hope you will critique and comment on all of them.)
Let It Sink.
How many ways can I say I'm done?
How can you just go through your day,
Ignoring every need, every single one
and not hearing what I say?
How many times must my heart break?
How many days must go by?
How much more will I let you take.
How many tears will I not cry?
I cannot keep going if I'm only going back
Insults and screaming, with no apology
I feel each and every one of your attacks
What are you doing to me?
I am done, I'm throwing out the pail
I'm not bailing out anyone any more.
I don't care if the boat doesn't sail,
I'm now walking out this door.
