Never Known Love Poem by Chrystal Von

Never Known Love

I have been isolated.
I have been demolished
By simple words said,
Supervised, accounting for each call.

I have been controlled.
every word twisted and marked,
I have been silenced,
in public, at home, in the dark.

Tears in our eyes,
none in their hearts.
The Love I had for them,
It tore me apart.

I never knew Love,
Until you:
Ran me a warm bath,
Let me meet your pack.
In your warm arms and blankets,
you allowed me to be wrapped.

You cooked meals that healed my body,
and let me meet the demons you still battle.

I'd never known Love

Until you let me meet your family
When you carried my daughter because she asked.
When you promised to stand with me
while I battle my own demons.

When you help me face fears I would try to deny.
I've never known Love.
The actions that defined the word.
Until you. Now I can see what I had never known.
