Crystal Rosser Poems

I part with my heart set neatly upon the table;
A salami pricker beside it,
I part with the clothes still hanging damp
On the line
...

In a curl, I have met the calm of my winter,
Underneath raw, midnight skies
And through moonlight and trees,
Opalescent reflections and linear auras.
...

What becomes of a moony mind?
Entombed, in a hardened case —
Warmth kept from light —
Spoiling in a jar —
...

I see your rage,
Like taillights in the distance,
And purple mountains crashing,
In a thick void.
...

Behind my eyes, I begin to see you, love
Through the thick haze of darkness
How deeply I long for your hands grasping
And your lips sweeping.
...

When I think of you,
I think of your skin
As hard, sleek leather,
As soft as a cloud,
...

Time unravels us -
Grain by grain - quiet and still -
Side-way glances - soft and low -
Heavens pass through us -
...

I create Heaven and Hell-
The otherworldly light streaming into oblong shapes-

Alongside towering shadows-
...

A man thinks - and then, he becomes;
He thinks of the lesser as fools and trolls,
He thinks of himself as a God,
And he is revered as such.
...

I do, I remember,
That chilly day
In December;
The day you were born,
...

Oh - but what turns me so -
ln the long afternoon -
Fields of wonder -
The wind - perhaps -

It echoes, it echoes
An ache to speak, my love;
Our dreams we dream
Side-by-side

My sorrow is full of you -
Bones - sore of you -

Tender - I glisten in the wind -

I've grown to love myself in the lost
In the fade of smiles and touch
In the echoes of innocents and laughter
Twirling years of hair between my fingers

She melds within the clock's red midnight ticking-that fair, almond-haired bitch
And the old rabbit fancies to run white with her, wildly a-gloom.

She lost herself in the great heaps of timber and fire storm; fret naught of the night

Simple, yet vivid,
Long dried up and livid;
These gentle lilacs, I crush and I bruise,
In my bare hands, they ooze.

Who roams inside my dreams, I whisper,
Who thieves through my nights-
Like a subtle, distant thunder, it is him-
He, who surrounds me, and I-

Two pairs of eyes, circling deeply
Into the depths of a flame,
Their eyes wandering
In enlightenment, alluding to intentions.

When you know, let your spirit soar,
Soar with the wind, and let it
Move, move through the trees, and let it
Dance, dance through the leaves.

Of a rain coming, and yesterday,
Yesterday, a whisper of a friend,
Her favorite color, purple

The Lifeless

I part with my heart set neatly upon the table;
A salami pricker beside it,
I part with the clothes still hanging damp
On the line
And the linens wrinkled and dirty.

I forgot to turn off the stove,
And hang your coat
On the hook, and just as well,
The fire will need more wood too.

You will smell my familiar essence
Lingering in the sweet, dark
Unplugged bottles
Of rum and wine.

I know, I know; I know now
I feel customarily indifferent;
Desire and despair,
Are one and the same to me.

I am unable to weather your touch,
To grow and burst forth from sorrow
I am unable to let go gently, so
I must go, I must go.
