As I sit and gaze at you.
I see sorrow in your eyes.
Your smiles are too few.
Destroyed by all the lies.

As I sit and think of our life.
All the happiness all the strife.
Summer days I spent with you.
Some were happy some were blue.

I am lost, but not my way
What's right what's wrong?
My thoughts, they do betray
Wanting, needing to belong

The rustling sound of the trees
Whispering quietly in the breeze
Listen carefully to what they say
Will humankind please go away

There is nothing as powerful as a word
Spoken correctly, precise not slurred
Offering hope where none might exist
Praising others, your words may assist

This world we live in is a wonderful place.
The trees the air the skies and lakes.
All the animals that roam around.
The harmony that can be found.

This green and pleasant land of ours.
Is disappearing can't you see.
Replaced by roads and houses.
Soon that's all that there will be.
