James Brennan Poems

Laughing, joking,
New ways to play,
Act the fool.
Stunts always bring out
...

Candles light up the sand
Around our flowers for you,
The lightly blowing wind
Burns the light more brightly
...

Tsunami wave comes
People now flee in terror
Chaos all around.
...

To write is might,
That's certainly true
Of the president in the
White House when
...

I like your face,
It's a lived-in face
Lots of lines
That tell stories,
...

Wild the night storm blows
Knocking us off giddy feet
Hard rain soaking us.
...

I turned to my love and offered her small sweet oranges
As the waves gently caressed the sandy beach
And invited us to join in its warm aqua ripples
In morning's glassy sea.
...

They may hide you
From me,
It is never for long
Even when it's for
...

Lightning strikes charred tree
Permeates singed nostril hair
Too close for comfomfort.

The blood red orange
clouds bled into the
Azure background
Of a pleasant

Dear Argo Navis
Let us sail
Across the Universe
In your ship of stars,

The walking ATM machine,
That's what we are
To those whom we visit in paradise
With very little

She shook
Midnight out of her hair
As she awoke
Bringing new life
...

Warm still calm quiet sea
Bringing out my inner calm
In nature as one.

The family heirloom, a stunning
Waterford crystal vase casting
Colourful light refractions all around
The room full of character Sat on a

The large window was sunken
Into the wall at the end of the quiet room,
Or did it just sit there?
It depended on the perception

Along quiet darkened lanes
Fearful steps and dread,
What lurks yonder in the
Forest of terror?

Choking our planet
We consume its resources
Shameful legacy.

Dear sweet Sylvia.
How the world has missed your voice
So much you gave so much we yearn.
Your wonderful words still resonate

Flash cuts through the black,
Bright the shimmer across
Still seawater.

James Brennan Biography

Started writing 30 years ago to calm an overactive mind also going through extreme low's. I was advised to seek publishing, however, did not have the confidence. Now older and more comfortable in myself I started enjoying writing again and to see where this leads me. Hopefully people will enjoy at least some of this work. My poetry blog is... The Best Poem Of James Brennan

Clown.

Laughing, joking,
New ways to play,
Act the fool.
Stunts always bring out
The best laughs,
Stunts lead to pain,
But it's not
The torturous pain
That lays deep inside,
Buried deep so as not to slip out
Amongst one's peers.

It festers so,
To come tearing out
Once alone.
Ripping apart the mask
Of carefully crafted illusion,
Torturing the now laid
Bare soul which finds itself
Without the taunting
Of the audience
It sought to delight.

Grasping for the other Masks on hand,
Alcohol,
Needles,
Powder,
Paid women of delight,
Anything other than the face of
Painful reality.
Until the next time the expectation
Comes for the performance of the
Tortured clown's soul.

James Brennan Quotes

The first casualty of war is the mind.

WITHIN OUR PERSONA THE PERPETRATOR WE RECOGNISE BUT REFUSE TO ACCEPT …………

IN DEATH WE FIND OUR INNER STRENGTHS OUR FAULTS, OUR FAILINGS, BUT BY THIS TIME, OUR KNOWLEDGE MAYBE RENDERED USELESS TO THIS LIFETIME.

THE REFUSAL TO BELIEVE OTHERS WILL SEE-THROUGH LIES BELIEVING ONESELF TO BE SO CLEVER, BECKONS BLIND BELLIGERENCE.

QUITE OFTEN THE EXTERIOR BETRAYS THE HIDDEN TORMENT TO BE FOUND IN PEOPLE WHOM THE MEDIA LAVISHES ITS ATTENTION.

QUITE OFTEN THE EXTERIOR BETRAYS THE HIDDEN TORMENT TO BE FOUND IN PEOPLE WHOM THE MEDIA LAVISHES ITS ATTENTION.

IN A SOCIETY OF MORAL ETHICS LOVE DOES NOT RUN FREELY.
