If pen and ink were brush and paint And vowel sounds were shades and tints, If word pictures weren't so faint But radiant like fine art prints - I'd make her beauty plain to see, Undimmed by any verbal flaw; In picture-perfect poetry, To read would be to gaze in awe. Yet pen and ink are all I need To simply say I love her so; And if her sparkling eyes should read My humble poem, she would know Her portrait shines within my heart More brightly than the finest art.
