Dreams leave a warm glow in their wake -
Sweet dreams of love that make me sigh -
Like moonlight on a quiet lake

Without a breath of wind to shake
The calm beneath a starry sky.

While I wait for love's dawn to break;
How mildly on my mind they lie,
Like moonlight on a quiet lake.

What fair forms fantasy can take;
Shy lovers-from-afar know why
Dreams leave a warm glow in their wake.

A moonlit reverie can make
Hope look quite luminous - so I
Like moonlight on a quiet lake.

Though emanating from an ache
Of cold and lonely longing, my
Dreams leave a warm glow in their wake -
