Investing so much time into a sonnet
Yields no benefit financially;
You'll never bring a dime in through a sonnet -
People seldom pay for poetry.
If, like the Bard's, your words are sweet as honey,
You may get a compliment or two;
But if you write a thriller, you'll make money
And best-seller fans will flock to you.
No, sonnets aren't what the public's buying;
But if love is your desired reward,
A sonnet to the girl for whom you're sighing
Will give her assurance she's adored.
And when she hears romantic rhymes recited,
You'll be rich in joy if she's delighted.
