126. Just The Two Of Us Poem by Jaden Knight

126. Just The Two Of Us

We walk along the beach together
holding hands like we’d never want to let go
our shoes stored safely in the bag upon my back
my coat slung over my right shoulder
your hair and skirt blowing about in the sea breeze

Occasionally we glance back at our footprints
a memory of where we were
enjoying the feel of the warm sand
as it glides between our toes

After a while we find a spot
and sit down on my towel
spending 2 hours in the sun
watching the waves crash upon the shore in front of us
arms around one another
not needing to say a single word
enjoying each other’s company
savouring a perfect moment

Eventually we see the sun go down
and you shiver in the sudden chill
we both stand up to go back to the hotel
and I wrap my coat around you to keep you warm

Soon the night time will properly set in
and our footprints will be washed away by the sea
but no matter what happens the next day
I will always dream of how happy we were that time
when it was just the two of us
