13 Golden Dishes Or Alternate Endings Poem by Mary Angela Douglas

13 Golden Dishes Or Alternate Endings

12 golden dishes
12 ruby place settings
13 guests
Such a tempest split the skies
When the 13th fairy arrived
Such a birthday present for the christened princess
How I wanted to go inside
where the fairy tale abides
And rewind the fateful clock
As far back as the dickery dock
Reverse the spell
So that all things shall be well
The wild geese straying off the greening lawns
Where wolves with bonfires in their eyes await
Alternate endings I propose
La vita nuova for each rose
Blighted in winter or summer's steam
By authors careless with the golden mean
This oh this is what I dreamed
And that behind the optics there
We shall like vintage clouds repair
The damage that the skies retained
When all the stories rained their rains
And with practice in the fictive realm
With time we shall on earth decline
The tragedies that us enfold
And turn real realms of mire to gold.
May it please the Father.
