174. Reason To Be Here Poem by Jaden Knight

174. Reason To Be Here

Rating: 4.0

They say that everyone has a reason
to exist on the face of this planet
that there is a grand plan
that everyone in the world but follow
my opinion of this right now
is that it is a load of bullshit

There is no fate
no destiny for you to follow
no fixed point you were born to end up at
unless you aim for it yourself

The stars in the night sky
will not map out your future
despite what those astrologers say
you can do it by yourself by what you do
the actions of others will always interfere
even the best laid plans can go wrong

Your future is up to you
make it before it is shaped by others
and if you end up at the point you wanted to
you can give yourself some applause
and know that you have made it your way

I wish more people around the world felt like this, then the ignorance of some people's blind faith might be replaced by reflection on the truth of our nature. When we all understand that we are animals with often destructive drives we will be able to temper our behaviour and live a more harmonious life.

Je pense donc je suis / Cogito ergo sum -essentially Descartes is saying one cannot be sure of anything else but ones own existence. After that I guess you have to take a leap pf faith that what you believe is reality is reality (not just a dream for example) . Planning ahead seems like a good idea but not at the total expense of living in the moment. Through life I find the game plan changing unpredictably throwing light on misconceptions, illusions and assumptions. Liked your poem - food for thought and I'm hungry.
