(2008) Sunset Poem by Deana Rode

(2008) Sunset

Rating: 2.6

Look out past the horizon of my fears
I see the rays trying to pierce through the haze
but the clouds refuse to succumb..

I'm thinking of my past,
of those I've gained and lost,
wondering if any of them ever knew the real me..

Do I even know who I was meant to become?

The woman I am today
and the woman I see in the waters of Destiny
they aren't the same..

How does one grab their reflection
and change into it, become one with it
and rebuild the entire landscape of their being?

I want to know.

The sun has been slowly setting
day upon day, year upon year
I see the reflection fading
and I have no idea how to stop it.
