2021,

My, my you have just descended,
It was quite a year last year, The world heralded in the New decade with much expectation, celebration and amazement,
Perhaps casting their eye Into the new decade eager,
For Optimism,
Change,
Innovation,
Prosperity,
Less suffering,

But alas,
It was a year like no other,
Experienced in the modern times,
A Faceless Stranger,
Barely knocked,
Came in,
Caused much disruption,
The world almost at standstill,
Lives lost,
In thousands,
New ‘Superheroes' emerged,
And are still creating daily miracles,
Saving lives,

We hope that you're here to usher in,
At least a sigh of relief,
A moment to catch our breath,
To begin the repair,
To Ourselves,
Our People,
Our foundations,
Our systems,

In a few months,
We know it will take some time,
But we do hope,
Pray,
And hold dear still,
The chance to reconnect with loved ones beyond the screen,
Beyond the masks,
So that we may return to work,
And contribute to a prospering society,
And build Anew,

You see,2021, there is much to be done,
No time to lay idle,
Basking in the sun,
We have to get going,
And with you with us,
Providing ballast,
We will sail to calmer shores,
We will be a step closer,
To us all,
Once Again.
