290. No Light Poem by Jaden Knight

290. No Light

Rating: 5.0

No light can reach me here
no prayers can sooth
seems like I'm at the base of a pit
and there are no handholds

Feel like I'm become trapped between my guilt and fear
no one knows so they won't throw me a rope
outside I appear to laugh and joke
inside the water level is rising
and I'm drowning in my tears

This darkness is becoming like a friend
despite it trying to choke me out
unlike people it is always there
even if it does more harm than good

Just when I was losing all hope
a brilliant beam shines down on me
surrounding me with its brilliance
lifts me out of the hole I was in
sets me gently on my feet
a great distance away

My smiles have become more genuine
I enjoy the jokes even more
need no ropes to pull me up
as I am already on the rise

No light could reach me there
it bathes me in its rays
no prayers are needed to soothe me
as I am finally at peace
ready to reach out to those left behind
to give them another chance
to be free of their own darkness

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Not knowing what this poem might be about, I read it in an impulse of curiosity. I was in darkness, but now I can see light - even brighter than before! That is how it felt reading it. I could title it - Rebirth.
