#393 This Affluent Flight Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#393 This Affluent Flight

I'm floating, flying, drifting by.
I'm happy, my heart is light.
I want to laugh, I want to cry,
Everything in the world is right.

I smell the sweet, honey breeze
As I go soaring past.
I'm up here above the trees,
On the clouds roving fast.

I see the earth far below me,
I scan towns and mountain tops.
I watch rivers flow to sea
And view green orchards and crops.

I don't know where I am going,
Where I've been, or why.
I don't care where I am rowing
Up in this endless sky.

I hope I never touch the ground
Or cease this affluent flight.
I know this isn't very profound
But it's how I feel tonight.
