.4. First Flight Poem by David Threadgold

.4. First Flight

Rating: 5.0

How clever thought I
The first sight of a plane
At the end of the runway
All covered in rain

The roar of its engines
Preparing to fly
To so many countries
With weather more dry

It started to roll
Till its speed became higher
All wheels lifted off
Now this plane was a flyer

Amazing I thought
The first time I saw flight
And I watched the wet plane
Till it flew out of sight

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Perfect pitch, rhyme, rhythm... as ever! (I don't always comment but do read when the opportunity lends itself and this is, as ever, trademark DT) . 'Rambling'....? ! ! ! ! ! ! ! NO way! That is a self-derogative way of putting what the rest of us see as a wonderful ability to make a rushing flowing piece from the everyday. t x
