My old cricket bat has a split in
The stumps on my wickets are shot
Some twine off the handle is missing
Because it got used such a lot
My red cricket ball has no colour
Its stitching has most worn away
Not quite as round as it should be
And sending my over’s astray
Dad has a lawn full of patches
Where over the years runs were many
We never had laptop computers
And sweets you got ten for a penny
No one stayed in watching telly
Outdoor exercise kept us healthy
Our games carried no class distinctions
Where poor played alongside the wealthy
