An orange glow casts silhouettes
Across the morning sky
Black pylons with their power lines
Miles stretch I wonder why
A barn owl flies on noiseless wing
With swoop hear field mouse cry
Its nature’s way of balancing
Feed strong and weak must die
A grid that stores up energy
When feeding it’s not shy
Coal, coke, gas or nuclear fuel
For power we all buy
Wildlife live without this need
To use these stores for buying
They use the water, wind and sun
Natural energy for trying
So take away the dangers
That make the fat cats strong
For slowly they are killing us
And surely that is wrong
