Shafts of light that filter through
The broken window pane
A lonely man sits starring
At the shadows once again
What does he see within them?
Is it sadness maybe fear?
Why does he move away at times?
When the shadows come too near
The howling winds don’t help him
They whistle through his hell
Near a pile of garbage
With its putrid stinking smell
The sunlight gets much stronger
To invade the shadows space
Rats running from the stinking heap
To find a darker place
The lonely man now weary
Once more his vigil kept
Until the morn brought sunlight
Now safe the old man slept

10/10 David I felt the pain of this poor man - this is excellent, thank you for bringing me back to earth (with a bang)
