When I tried to split the atom
With a hammer and a chisel
It didn’t give a mighty bang
It only gave a fizzle
So I whacked it with a cricket bat
That sent it through the wall
It didn’t make a little noise
Nor mighty bang at all
I took it to the steelworks
Placed it in a giant press
But the atom was too strong for it
And caused a mighty mess
A swipe from single samurai
Put atom in a spin
It bounced around the kitchen
Then rearranged the bin
Frustration made me stamp on it
Having tried so many things
I remember one almighty bang
Just before I got my wings
