50 People - 28 Poem by Raj Dronamraju

50 People - 28

28

Nate's skeleton
All the dirty bits removed, all the dirty bits that you threw at the living canvas
Hoping you'd eventually make a picture we'd all want to stand and stare at for hours
And your atrocities? Well they are being catalogued A - Z by a team of dedicated professionals

Nate's skeleton
How you talked of sex, how you smoked and drank too much
Oh how we drank at quiz night, me and you and your ghost girlfriend
I was studying you closely
Your long sleeved disco shirt with two dragons, one on each side

Nate's skeleton
Confirmed his predecessor's decision
You are slightly effeminate
But compensate very well by trying hard with the girls
You impregnated a girl at the age of 17 - you made sure to tell me this

Nate's skeleton
Is what remains after we
Peel away the anxiety, the neurosis, the panic
Like the skin of an apple
Peel away the hubris, the levels of deception
Like the skin of an orange
After he has been picked clean, look at what's left
You own this - you own nothing!
