537. Poem by Jaden Knight

537.

"My body and mind were meant to be temples"
according to what I have been told
saved for something holy to serve the good
before the vandals came along

Their leader cared not for sanctity
as he took pleasure in the looting and pillaging
the walls were damaged and ruined
the contents broken and almost destroyed

When I tried to repair some of the damage years later
as the landscape shifted and contorted
poisons had ravaged what was once considered sacred
never to return to their original state

My body and mind were meant to be temples
now they are considered amusement parks
what was meant to be pure and light
has long been mercilessly desecrated
and left to rot in the darkness
