.6. Colour Blind Poem by David Threadgold

.6. Colour Blind

Purple walls and ceilings
Pink window frames and doors
Bright green paper lampshades
With matching bright green floors

The fence around the garden
Twelve different shades of red
A sky blue shed with cloud white roof
Sits by the flower bed

Orange on the garage door
Inside a Morris black
Which seemed a little strange I thought
With rainbows on the back

Gateposts yellow Day-Glo
To hang a glittered gate
A broken number forty-nine
Had once been forty-eight

The dog had several coloured spots
The cat had pinkish stripes
And everywhere the plumbing went
Had multi-coloured pipes

The agent for the owners
Said the colours didn’t mind
It left just one conclusion
He must be colour blind

very colorful imagery, lively rhyme and rhythm, catchy meter... riveting to read.
