659. As He Cradles His Inner Child To Sleep Poem by Jaden Knight

659. As He Cradles His Inner Child To Sleep

As he cradles his inner child to sleep
singing a lullaby that only they can hear
he wonders whether the boy will wake up again
or if this evening will be his last

The boy sleeps deep within the man's mind
where he has been for many years
hoping to get out and play again
but patient enough to wait

Recent events have caused many problems
the stress of everything has made the boy ill
on his side and barely moving
eyes closed tightly due to the pain

He doesn't know how long he has
the moon rises for another night outside
the man gently reaches inside himself
and cradles his inner child to sleep
