83 - 9/11 Terror Skies

I can’t imagine the fear that was etched in their eyes
That day when evil terror captured the skies
That day when the world stood together helpless
Tears filled the rivers as we cried ourselves breathless
As Lucifer watched and smiled from his fiery hole
Body after body fell from the sky like a rag doll
The stars and stripes with blood upon
And even though the skyline is gone
History will never let us forget
On 9/11 those with hearts wept
Flags were raised and the candles lit
The rest of the day in silence we’d sit
Washing the spot like Lady Macbeth
The sky erased the clouds of death
As the dust began to settle on ground zero
A new graveyard had buried its last hero
