I see you growing bitter
And I watch you finding fault
And I hear your declarations
Of how put upon you are
You recoil when I touch you
Then pretend there’s nothing wrong
But there is, and I can’t bear it,
But I lamely play along.
Every little alienation
Every thoughtless little dig
Has me moving further from you
Bit by stolid bit
To think that I once loved you
Seems Incredible from here
But I did and I remember it
As if it were a dream
Once the void between us
Was clouded and obscure
Now the cloud has vanished
And it’s absolutely clear
I can still see you, just
So far, so far away
And I’m talking to myself
With nothing much to say.
David - I like your style! Nice rhyming, nice flow. Powerful read. Linda
