A Better Tribute To Jim Poem by Alma F. Martin

A Better Tribute To Jim

'Where AM I? ' you repeat on the phone.
'Well, I'm not sure, but I'm not at home.'

'Look at the signs? ' you repeat again.
'How will the signs tell me where I've been? '

'Of course I'm not drunk' you repeat to the caller.
'I need a ride home & I've spent my last dollar.'

'I'm trying to tell you where I am' you say into the mic.
'My car was just towed & I had to hike.'

'I just don't know where I am' in frustration you groan.
'I only see 2 signs - and both say 'PHONE' and 'PHONE! '

'Oh my God, you ARE related to me, ' says Jim.
'I married your sister & you're both dim.'
