A Bird So Trusting Poem by Katherine Perry

A Bird So Trusting

Rating: 4.5

While driving down an old country road
There was a path in the middle of some grass
I then glanced over
And pulled off onto the shoulder
Saw an animal flopping around kinda fast

I then saw the flash of feathers
Followed by some loud screams
It was a bird, a great big hawk
It had fishing line tangled around his body
and wings
I could tell it was scared, and towards it i walked

I looked at him
Then i slowly knelt down by his side
I talked in a gentle voice trying to calm him down
And then told him he was going to be alright

He then did something that amazed me
Something i had never seen in my life
For he spread out his wings
And stopped all his screams
Letting me touch him without trying to fight

I sat there and took that fishing line off of his
body and beak
Without a single sound out of him at all
And when i was done
He just layed there under the sun
Staring at me, then stood up on his feet so tall

He then flapped his wings and off he flew
And i still could not believe my eyes
For only a God of love could create an animal that
somehow knew
I was there to get him untangled, so he could fly!

No matter the pollution above the ground and sea
God's love still shines through for everyone to see! !
