A Cardinal flew down,
To take a drink.
But she was very nervous,
I had to think.
She flew down,
And up again.
For the clear cold water,
Showing disdain.
I say 'she, ' do you wonder why?
Cause she wasn't as pretty,
As her guy.
I wonder why?
She was kinda gray,
With an orange beak.
And her orange crest,
Made her look so chic.
But she didn't drink,
One single drop.
She would fly down,
Then she'd fly up.
She was very nervous,
I could tell.
And she was so flighty,
That Cardinal gal.
Then a Mockingbird,
Said look at me.
I'll drink my fill,
And I won't flee.
But she couldn't get,
Her courage up.
Maybe when I leave,
Down she'll hop.
