A Difficult Endeavor Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Difficult Endeavor

Just because I choose to remove,
Conflict of all kinds...
To leave behind.
And away from my mind.
Does not mean I do not find,
This a cure to endure...
Through a doing of this addiction.
Easy to handle and control.
Without a struggle with effort made.
To stay away...
From the temptation others begin,
To bait me into a debate.
That escalates,
Into a screaming argument.
That satisfies a 'fix'.
They seem to believe I need.
To temporarily soothe.
The enjoyment from it to get.

And this to recognize to leave behind,
Is a difficult endeavor.
Yet...
I remain determined and motivated,
Not to lose my sanity to become crazed.
Although these days that to do...
Seems more the 'norm' than not!
