A Former Koroit Beauty Poem by Francis Duggan

A Former Koroit Beauty

With hair dye she cloaks time's natural gray
She was a Koroit beauty but in Koroit did not stay
When she was much younger in her physical prime
But this is going back some four decades in time

When she was much younger in the old Moyne Shire Town
She was quite attractive her hair was light brown
In Melbourne a divorced grandmother today
From Koroit by car about four hours away

She has put on some weight not quite the beauty she was years ago
Time that ages everyone has become her foe
Nowadays she does not have a man in her life
She may never again be anyone's partner or wife

A former beauty of Koroit in the Moyne Shire countryside
With light brown hair dye time's natural gray she does hide
Like all in their sixties her best physical years long gone
And the clock on her life ever keeps ticking on.
