A Frigid Night Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

A Frigid Night

Sounds of loud discord
Pierced the silent sleeping night
The crunch of snow beneath booted feet
Accelerated…as words continued to ignite

Pleading… 'Please come back…'
'Don’t hold on to hope…my decision is final…
The clothing I am wearing, is all I’ll pack
My love for you is gone… don’t be in denial'

Her silhouette was revealed near a street light
Joined by an invisible string…he followed
Waving good-bye…she walked into the night
His pursuit ceased as his body hollowed
