! ! ! ! ! A Furtive Kiss And A Hug! ! ! !

Rating: 3.5

Here are your Roses, chocolate and wine,
I won’t be able to take you out to dine.
Please, please don’t start to whine
By the way, who was this St Valentine?

Put them in a vase before they wilt,
Don’t be overcome with guilt…
He said, planting a furtive kiss
Dear, couldn’t we have given it a miss?

Now, I need to really, really go, honey
shouldn't be saying, cost a lot of money.
Couldn’t you postpone the celebrations?
Until we got over the slump and recession?

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry,
Love, oh... don’t look that way, I did try.
Now come on, I deserve a big hug,
I obliged graciously, feeling quite smug…

You girls are silly about love and romance,
He is just going through male menopause...
After all these years you must know I care
Don't make me overspend, its not fair.

I had my Roses, chocolate and wine
No harm in indulging and let him whine...
I said to myself arranging flowers with a smile,
And chose to forget the conversation after a while.

This is a lovely- smooth flowing, and rhythmic poem; it has humour too! I think Mamtaji, the hug & kiss should compensate, what more a male menopause can do? ! 10! -Raj Nandy

We do celebrate so many festivals, occasions. Why not V.day. Especially in matured couples VDay is really great way to express each others love once again and imphasise.
