A Gentle Calm

Rating: 4.3

A GENTLE CALM

A gentle calm this early morn
Born on the wind from the south
Brushing with his singing mouth
The fluttering rain drenched leaves
Of sweet white hawthorn and sassafrass
Heady elderflower, mass on mass
And the first cut grass smells oh so sweet
As I stoop to kiss the Marguerite
And the crystal raindrops fall
To gently bathe the earth.

Yes, a gentle calm this early morn
The distant hills in a gauze of mist
That silver stars have lovingly kissed
Gossamer webs hang here and there
With jeweled drops of morning dew
Of palest pink and royal blue
And as I kiss the Marguerite
That sits amongst the grass so sweet
The crystal raindrops fall
To gently bathe the earth.
