In a world consumed by greed and hate,
Where kindness is seen as a sign of weakness,
It's hard for those with a good heart to relate,
To a society that rewards ruthless uniqueness.

This is the wrong generation for empathy,
Where selfishness is praised and altruism is mocked,
And those who bow their head in humility,
Are seen as naive and foolishly locked.

The world has lost its appreciation for sincerity,
Honesty is now a concept too rare,
And those who hold steadfast to integrity,
Are mocked and ignored with a careless glare.

This is the wrong generation for love,
Where lust is where the focus lies,
And the heartaches that it causes just shove,
Those who mean well with their valiant tries.
