A Grammar Elephant Leaving The Room Poem by Terence George Craddock

A Grammar Elephant Leaving The Room

is the elephant
back in the room
tearing down the walls
elephants need not tear down walls
elephants can exit smashing straight through walls
or exit through wide doors in large open public spaces
words can storm through walls knock down walls
or build simple huts differing houses even prestigious palaces

thoughts who defines
great or slow sublime
or an assault upon the mind
do typos count does grammar matter
does punctuation reign supreme
when creativity unleashed runs

on swift wind follows
marathon migrations
thought inspiration is
everything writers rapid write
an addiction to grammar is a minor
thing left waiting for correction later
they can be fixed later even by a baker
a plumber or candle stick maker

if grammar rules
are deemed more important
than capturing will-o'-the-wisp ideas
imagery fleeting
sudden appearing
disappearing escaping
