A Heart On Fire Poem by James McLain

A Heart On Fire

A Heart on Fire

My heart is bright with love's wild flame,
It burns with passion, sweet, aflame.
No winds of sorrow, doubt, or shame,
Could quench the fire that now remains.

The stars may pale, the moon may fade,
Yet still my love burns as your flame,
Like sun upon a summer glade,
Will warm the earth beneath the snow.

It dances in the darkest night,
A beacon shines through a hurricane,
The world may tremble at its might,
But I am safe, embraced and warm.

Though time will change the sky and sea,
This fire will never lose its might,
For deep within, it lives in me—
A heart on fire, forever bright.
