A Heart To Carry Poem by John Madger

A Heart To Carry

How do you feel with out a heart?
How do you see, breathe, hear, or touch?
The only way for one to know is have lost their heart.
How does someone loose ones heart?
How did I lose mine?
To feel a loss that should not be felt, to see a love that cannot be seen,
To trust in a soul that is not your own.

Alas, my heart is not lost,
I can feel my heart, see it, hear it, touch it.
I can feel it in your soul, see it in your eyes, hear it in your voice, and
Long for it in your touch.
I have entrusted my heart to you, a gift of free will,
You are the keeper of my heart, my very soul, whenever I need to feel,
When ever I need to see, hear, or touch, all I need do is search for your lips.
I can find all I seek behind your eyes,
Whenever I need to feel you, all I need do is look for my heart,
for I carry a piece of you with me.
