I love and hate you like the rain,
The joy of life, the bringer of pain,
Clean and beautiful, an autumns’ delight,
Cold and terrible, a nightmarish fright,
Strong and true, how steady the flow,
Devious and treacherous, to be washed down below,
Soothing and cleansing, of peace I can sing,
Taxing and wearisome, the loss of a ring,
Sweet is the taste, a gift I hold dear,
Apathetic to all, left standing in fear,
The showers of love, such a glorious sight,
The winds of fury, that howl through the night,
The calm and the growth, that sweep through the land,
The anger and rage, that grinds all into sand,
Rain brings the life we all need to grow,
As hot as the sun, as cold as the snow,
We wax and we wane, and the trees they grow tall,
The rain does not see, just continues to fall.
